What learning programs already support Authentic Learning? We all know the power of enjoying the timelessness of learning when we are involved and interested vs. the dredge of being forced to learn something of no interest. It is children experiencing. The basic tenets of authentic learning activities include: Learning activities relate to the real world/real life ; Tasks that are applicable and of interest to learners Their level of ‘action’ is different. The learner is engaged, motivated and invested due to a true interest, connection and involvement that comes from the inside. For college students, experiences, such as the one that resulted in this webpage, are Authentic Activities. But, I do embrace making individual children’s learning authentic, that they explore their learning through their point of interest, their inner connections. How can I change or work with them to make learning more meaningful? Kindergarten teachers need to find authentic ways of assessing young children in everyday situations. But it cannot be measured into pre-determined data, nor set to a timetable. As teachers, we are constantly searching for articles, books, or advice on how to make learning ‘stick’ with out students. So what does this mean about my practice? As children develop differently at different age levels it is important to explore how authentic learning can look across the grade levels. Their ability to take ‘action’ within the community is limited, but learning to experience success from taking ‘action’ in their immediate world is equally as crucial. Really find out where your students are coming from especially if you are not from the area or are new to the area.
